A shuttered cineplex in a suburban strip mall becomes an unlikely site for a new performing arts center at a local community college. The former theatres are well suited as sound-isolated rehearsal rooms and scene shop, connected by a Central Lobby that becomes an impromptu performance space. The addition of a new 450-seat theatre with a series of banners and draperies to adjust the room for a wide variety of performance types including dance and music. William helped the team meet budgetary challenges by recommending creative use of concrete masonry, and also providing guidance on existing building structures that could be reused.
